CALL FOR STUDENT TECHNICAL POSTERS
Dear SEG Student Member
We are now calling for the submission of Student Technical Posters via an online submission system at http://seg.omnicms.com/seg/2010/collection.cgi. Please visit this site to view instructions for the submission of a short descriptive paragraph, an extended abstract, and your poster. The descriptive paragraph will appear in the printed Conference Program, whereas the poster and abstract will be included on a CD-ROM of Conference Proceedings. All Conference attendees will receive both the CD-ROM and the Conference Program.
We ask that poster submissions be appropriate to the theme of The Challenge of Finding New Mineral Resources that will highlight key commodities in the context of global metallogeny, innovative exploration and new discoveries. Specifically, the conference will focus on six main commodities (gold, silver, copper-moly, zinc, nickel-PGE, and uranium), although other commodities of high current interest may be added.
Each commodity will be subdivided into four topics:- revised metallogenic models
- premier metallogenic belt updates
- current exploration methodologies
- recent major discoveries that have not been reported previously
Poster submissions are invited in these six major commodity areas as well as others, among which iron ore, beach sands, rare earths, phosphate, and potash would be particularly pertinent. If your commodity does not fit in the above list, please contact Thomas Monecke at tmonecke@mines.edu.
The poster session will form a key part of the conference and, together with the International Student Conference, the gathering at Keystone promises to be a seminal event in the field of economic geology.
SEG will financially support student participation in the Keystone 2010 meeting. To be eligible for support, you must submit an extended abstract by March 1, 2010. In general, the level of financial support will depend on the quality of your abstract submission and your geographic location. If you do not require financial support, the deadline for poster submissions is August 1, 2010. Conference registration opens March 1, 2010. For more information please go to www.seg2010.org
